Banks in India will be closed for 14 days in January 2021, including four Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, and one national holiday. These holidays can vary from state to state, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and are different for different banks. To prevent any last-minute trouble, customers are advised to schedule their bank-related work accordingly. Although banks remain closed these days, mobile banking and internet banking will continue to be functional. As for the year 2021, banks will remain closed for more than 40 days in India. It may be noted that, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, RBI was notified of the dates given below.

On January 2 and 16, 2021, only Aizawl will celebrate a bank holiday. The holiday will take place on 14 January 2021 at banks in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Gangtok and Hyderabad. Banks in Chennai and Guwahati will remain shut down for Thiruvalluvar Day or Magh Bihu and Tusu Puja on January 15, 2021. On the occasion of the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, only Agartala will observe a bank holiday on January 23, 2021. Whereas on January 25, 2021, because of Imoinu Iratpa, only Imphal can observe a bank holiday. In addition, banks will be closed for 19 holidays for the first quarter of 2021 (January-March), other than Sundays, and 2nd and 4th Saturdays.
